A joint fit of public atmospheric-neutrino data from Super-Kamiokande (pre-gadolinium), IceCube-DeepCore and KM3NeT/ORCA with six detection units, with shared systematics fully correlated and detector responses modelled per experiment, gives Δm²₃₁ = 2.44 (+0.06/−0.04) ×10⁻³ eV² (2.2% precision), sin²θ₂₃ = 0.52 (+0.03/−0.04) (6.1%) and δ_CP = 1.30 (+0.24/−0.28) π. Normal ordering is preferred over inverted by Δχ² = 11.0; calibrating with pseudoexperiments, inverted ordering is excluded at 99.95% CL (3.3σ).
Ordering matters for neutrino mass because the minimum sum of masses is about 0.06 eV in normal ordering and about 0.10 eV in inverted, so a normal-ordering result eases tension with cosmological sum bounds and sets what KATRIN-class and 0νββ searches should expect. This is a reanalysis of public data, not a collaboration result, and the Δχ² is a calibrated preference, not an exclusion at 5σ; the result depends on the correlated-systematics treatment, which only the experiments themselves can validate. Expect it to be tested against the dedicated JUNO and long-baseline results.

Using 140 fb⁻¹ of 13 TeV pp data, ATLAS selects events with exactly one electron or muon, missing transverse momentum and two b-tagged jets, and separates signal from tt̄, W+jets and t-channel single top with a graph neural network. A likelihood fit to the network output gives an observed (expected) significance of 5.1 (5.2) standard deviations and σ(tb̄ + t̄b) = 10.8 ± 1.5 (stat) ± 1.6 (syst) pb, consistent with the Standard Model. It is the first single-experiment observation of the channel.
The s-channel is the least-measured single-top mode and is sensitive to new charged resonances (W′-like) and to four-fermion operators that would not show in t-channel. The uncertainty is about 21% and statistics and systematics are comparable, so it constrains new physics only loosely for now; the news is that a ML-based discriminant made the channel observable at the LHC, which Tevatron combinations had reached only in combination.

Alto takes today: three days since it was last assigned, the longest gap of the three, and trumpet played yesterday. The work is fundamentals, since no alto method is chosen yet. Overtones off low B-flat again, for a centred tone across the register, then the thirds from last time turned around and played descending in E-flat. Short and even.
5 minutes: long tones on low B-flat, low C and G in the middle of the staff, 10 counts each at mp, no vibrato. Listen for the pitch to sit still from the first beat to the last.
Overtones off low B-flat: fundamental, then the second, third and fourth partials, slurred up and back down, at quarter = 60, with the throat and embouchure staying put. Then diatonic thirds descending through E-flat major, two octaves where the range allows, as even eighths. Success criterion: three consecutive clean passes of the thirds at quarter = 72, then 84, then 96, with no pitch sagging at the bottom of each pair.
Play the E-flat major scale as a four-bar phrase: quarter-note scale up and down, shaped as one line that swells to the top note and relaxes on the way home. Aim for a sound that stays round at p.
About 30 minutes. Stop when the embouchure tires or the low notes start to split or buzz, even if the tempo goal is missed; stopping ten minutes early beats a ragged finish.

An alto played softly and evenly, with stepwise lines that stay in tune and never push. Listen for how the sound holds its centre at low volume and how the phrases are shaped by small swells rather than attack. That control at p is what today's long tones and thirds are for.
